Terms of use.
Plain terms for using the Baant website and app. Last updated 1 October 2026.
What Baant is
Baant is a tool for recording shared expenses and working out who owes whom. It is not a bank, a payment service or a wallet. It never holds, sends or receives money, and it is not a party to any payment between you and other people.
Your records
You are responsible for what you enter and for checking amounts, exchange rates and payment details before you rely on them or pay anyone. Calculations follow the rules described on the How it works page. Baant shows reference exchange rates as information only.
Payments
When you pay through a UPI app or any other service, that payment is between you, the other person and those services, under their terms. Check the payee and amount in your payment app before you approve a payment.
Your data
Your data stays on your devices and you can export or delete it at any time. Keep backups: data in a browser can be lost if the browser’s storage is cleared.
Fair use
Do not use Baant to break the law, to harass anyone, or to record other people’s personal details without a good reason.
No warranty
Baant is provided as it is, without any promise that it will always be available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, the operators are not liable for losses arising from its use, including from decisions or payments made using its figures.
Changes
These terms may change as Baant adds features such as accounts and sync. The date at the top shows the latest version.
